Trying hard

to fish as often as possible but when I have the time there is often something there to ruin the fun. theese days we have the weather, way below freezing and an endless clear sky wich is baaad for surface fishing at night. I still cannot change the weather, working on that... I have hd at least one trip to saltstraumen a day to check out the fishing, but there is a lack of coalies or the fish is there but doesn`t see my lures in the moonlight. Nightfishing in moonlight and a clear sky is difficult, the fish simply does not see the silhouette of the lures or the fly and I believe the fish is more careful, specially in the river.
If there is fish in the water the right color to use can be blue or white so the last days I`ve been testing out lures and flies with this colores - without luck...
This can be the killer for seatrout in rivers, the Blue Elegance, with the yellow tail wich can reflect the moonlight and the gray/black wing that cover the blue hackle and makes it easier for the fish to see the silhouette against the clear sky.

Now I`m waiting for the weather to change, we are experiencing a constant breeze from the east wich is the cold direction this tme of year. The weatherforecast is not looking good, at least one week ahed in time there is reports about even colder temperatures (hope they are wrong), but as soon there is some changes in the weather I`ll be heading out to cover more layers of saltwater with my baits, shads and lures. Untill then I`ll be continuing to fish one or two hours a day for coalfish from the shores in Saltstraumen.
