Fishing, fishing and rods.

Halibut was the main target for last weekend`s seafishing, and after hours of fishing and experimenting in different depths I finally cought up with this outstanding fish about 20lbs. We also had several cods during the fishing. Last year in april the sea was warmer with about 3´c. I think that`s why the fish is hard to catch theese days, the cold winter really gave the sea a later spring. Can`t see as much coalfish on the fishfinder as I did last year either. I hope for a little less wind to morrow for the seafishing, it`s more efficient fishing the greater depths when the boat doesn`t drift away in 3 m/h. We`ll be fishing with shadjigs and baitfishing with coalfish. This halibut attacked a white shad on about 100feet of depht, to morrow I think we`ll be fishing way deeper and hopefully with less wind than we have been experiencing today. -we have had snow, rain, wind, black clouds and sun all day, but now it seems like it`s about to change to something better, still a bit of everything but not that intense. It is not summer yet, we still have some of the winter hanging over us, then it`s great with 130hp`s to escape if it get`s to ruff out there.

About shorefishing, I still have not been abel to get a hold of a rod that really serves the bait over the edge. Still not casting as far as I would like, but in the closet behind dusin`s of flyrods and some other rods I found this norwegian made 13 feet baitcaster from the early 1990`s. (Hørgård Tjøstheim 950) My father once bought this for his fishing in Saltstraumen, he was also a dedicated flyfisher before he passed away in 96. This rod really moved my 125gr. sinker and bait further than I have ever casted a bait before. I will now analyse how this rod was build and see if I can find something that is similar. 

If there is anybody out there that can help me find the perfect rod for looong casts I would be really greatfull.
