Cranberry River(Again) W.V. Oct 2009

Oct 21st - 23rd, Cranberry River outing. This was one of those trips that came together at the last moment, and withing a day of saying something like "Let's hit the Cranberry", we were gone.....Good thing to because the weather was great. Really cool at night but great during the day. The river didn't give up any huge trout like it normally does, but it did give up many little fish. Lot's of fun, and the scenery this time of year is awesome. The trees were giving us their best yellows, reds and oranges. I was lucky to be able to go.....What can I say, a late fall trout trip out east for a couple of days. How awesome is that?......

Tioman Trip 2009

One Prayer, One Big Bass!

October 3, 2009 on legendary Lake Toho, Paster Grady Coven came on board to do some trophy bass fishing. As we started out, I heard the Pastor say Lord just one big one,Amen.

Grady is from Alabama and very familiar with fishing for largemouth bass.

It was a gorgeous day and the Pastor was doing well with a small amount of fish. Grady was catching bass, when out of blues that nice Lunker of Bass took off with his bait.

The Lake Toho monster bass weighted in at 8 1/2 pounds and the blessing for the day was answered.

Also noted, for a 8 1/2 pound bass it was a big thick specimen of a Florida largemouth, a real healthy summertime fish.

We appreciate your business and look forward to fishing with in the future.

Herbstzeit = Hechtzeit

In den letzten Woche war mein Zielfisch, Leser der Überschrift wissen es wohl schon, der Hecht. Da das Wasser stellenweise immer noch vor lauter kleiner Köderfische förmlich brodelt, entschied ich mich, Meister Esox noch eine weitere Woche mit UL-Methoden zu beangeln. Bei 3 mal fischen gehn konnte ich mit kleinen Blinkern und Miniwobblern insgesamt 4 Hechte bzw Hechterl landen. Allesamt gaben sie ein Drill allererster Güte ab.
An dieser Stelle muss ich auch leider erwähnen, dass mir heute ein feister Fisch vor den Füssen ausgestiegen ist. Wohl jenseits der 90cm........ FUT !

Einmal gings auf Karpfen die Woche, und es ging wirklich gut!

9 Carps zwischen 2 und 5kg bereiteten mir wunderschöne Stunden am Greifensteiner Altwasser.
Der Herbst dürfte heute endgültig Einzug gehalten haben. Eiskalter Wind und spontan auftretende Hagel/Regenschauer machten das Fischen schon eher unangenehm......

Lousy Fall Fishing

Fall is the second most beautiful time of year. Spring, in my opinion is the most visually pleasing time of year. They say Fall fishing is as good as Spring time fishing. This year, I have to say hogwash. I have been skunked more time this fall then I care to talk about(although I will write about it).

I have been skunked on the Mad River at least 3 times in the last 6 weeks. A couple of small mouth trips and 1 trout outing up north by Urbana. I know a lot has been written about the Mad river, and I read a few great things about the river. I have even pulled a few bass outta that drainage. But more times than not, that river hands me a goose egg. SKUNKED. Great looking river, looks like your gonna do real well, just by looking at it.....not the case........I suppose they named it the Mad River because it makes one so dang Mad........

.....went out carp fishing two days in a row, yesterday, and the day before. Found a spot, pretty secluded, not any signs of human activity....a big open mud flat, bird area, full of carp. I mead full, really full. You could see the bastards swimming around in the shallows, backs and tails outta the water, everywhere....splashing, swimming, cruising around......did not want my worms on the first day...so I got offended. Took it personal, as I always do. Came back the next day with eveil thoughts of slaying them darn carp. Brought the corn, and the doughball, my own secret recipe, that has worked like magic in the past........again Skunked......

Fall fishing???? Maybe I need more practice....

Rapfen statt Karpfen

Heut rückten Kollege Hadi und meine Wenigkeit aus, um am Greifensteiner Arm die Karpfen zu sekkieren.
Der Platz war gefüttert, der Wind blies frontal auf unser Ufer und das Wasser war auch schon mal brauner.Beste Bedingungen möchte man meinen......

Nach 3 Stunden ohne run machten wir uns, ein wenig verstört, ans Einpacken, wobei mir meine Ultralight Spinngerte in die Hände fiel. Verzweifelt klammerte ich mich an den Gedanken uns in letzter Minute mit einem schönen Schiad zu entschneidern, und begann mit einem kleinen Blinker der Firma Profiblinker um mich zu werfen.

Ich denke es müsste in etwa der 10. Wurf gewesen sein, da fuhr ein heftiger Schlag durch meine feine Rute und sofort musste ich wilde Fluchten parrieren.
Ein Drill der feinsten Sorte gipfelte in der Handlandung eines herrlichen Schiads, und der Tag war gerettet....

I just wanted to thank you for the info you post on your website. Ever since I got out of the Marine corp I have been bass fishing alot. I didnt know much about the how's and where's of bass fishing since I grew up in a salt water fishing household. But thanks to you I have had some excellent fishing trips to the everglades and one to airport lakes. You guys really seem to know your stuff. Even though I fish from my little 14ft. aluminum boat I am still gettin it done. So once again thank you for your wonderful website.

Wie schon im Vorigen Post angekündigt, war ich die letzten 2 Tage, jeweils ein paar Stunden Karpfenfischen. Unbedingt wollte ich einen Fisch an meiner neuen Karpfencombo (Shimano Hyperloop BX + Shimano Baitrunner 6500) drillen. Am ersten Tag, sprich vorgestern, hatte ich übelst die Seich an den Fingern.

Zu eiskaltem Wind hinzu kam, dass ich aus 5 Runs lediglich 2 Karpfen landen konnte, wobei keiner an der neuen Rute biss.

Auch groß waren die Karpfen nicht.... 2-3 kg, wenn überhaupt...

Heute begann der Angeltag schon weit vielversprechender. Dichter Nebel lag über dem Wasser , als ich um 7:00 den Schauplatz betrat und nur ein ganz leichte Zug war zu spüren.
Im Nebel hörte man immer wieder Karpfen an der Oberfläche rollen.

Höchst motiviert fütterte ich an, legte die Ruten aus und verzwickte ein Wurstbrot.

Aus dem Augenwinkel sah ich das Bummerl an den Blank schnalzen, gefolgt von durchgehendem Surren des Freilaufs. HERRLICH !!!!

Ich hatte gleich dicken Wiederstand, musste von Beginn an wilde Fluchten parrieren. Am Ende behielt ich Überhand und konnte einen schönen 8er, mit riesigen Flossen, landen.

Übelste Freude!!!!! Die neue Combo entspricht genau meinem Geschmack. Schön weicher Blank, aber doch mit starkem Rückgrad um auch die dicken Carps aus Greifenstein adäquat ärgern zu können. Die Rolle, ja, feinste Shimano Qualität halt.... :-)

Nach dem frühen Erfolg, es war gerademal 8:30, fischte ich ohne jeglichen Druck noch bis 13:00 weiter. Die zwanglose Stimmung dürften auch die Carps überkommen sein, denn bis kurz vor 12 konnte ich noch 3 weitere Karpfen auf der Matte gegrüßen. Keine riesen, aber schöne und starke Fische.

Dann war die Zeit gekommen die Sachen zu packen, mein Hunger wurde schön langsam unangenehm. Alles war schon gepackt, auch eine Rute war schon heraussen, da schoss das Bummerl der im Wasser verblieben Gerte abermals nach Oben, und läutete den definitiv letzten run des Tage ein.

Wieder kämpfte der Fisch enorm gut und nahm bei der ersten Flucht fast 40m Schnur.

Nach langem, doch schönem hin und her konnte ich ihn über den Kescher führen. Den Fisch des Tages, einen bulligen 9er.

Ich kann nur sagen, dem heutigen Tag verleihe ich das prädikat Pipifein !!!!!
