When I joined Åge for a short session last night we had a great time on the rocks in Saltstraumen. Stupid as I can be sometimes I brought only my #12 9" flyrod with a floatingline and only one fly, a big sunray shadow and just as the fish started to appear in my castingdistance I lost concentration when casting and smashed the fly in the rocks behing me and lost it and since I was the onlyone flyfishing (and without a fly) I helped the lurecasters with their fish. Several coalies were cought and the size was bethween 4 and 7 kg
I shot this fish with my cellphone, it happened wery quickly so the quality is not the best but I would say it`s ok in conditions like this.
Well I was in town today and got some streamerhooks from Tiemco fly hooks in size 1/0 and I will tie some large streamers for the coalies. Most of them will be in dark colors or just black, fishing at night the silhouette of the fly or the lure is everything.
I use a 9" single hand flyrod from loop in class 12, a powerfull rod with lots of back since coalies makes a run for deeper water when they are hooked.
